When you’re used to dating just Americans, you might not see all the signs that a woman from Mexico likes you. And even if you, you might not be totally sure how to react.
When you’re dating someone from a different cultural upbringing, you can’t just say the same things and do the same things as you normally would. And that’s probably why some of your techniques don’t work on a Latina — even though they’ve always worked on the American girls you used to date.
Well, if you’re planning to date a woman from Mexico from now on then you better do your research and check your usual biases at the door. Start fresh with a new perspective and learn the Mexican courtship traditions first before you try your chances with a lady.
Mexican Dating Culture
Courtship takes time in Mexico. You need to give particular consideration to her parents — especially the father. He has a heavy influence on whether or not she ends up dating you long term.
In Mexico, if her father agrees, the man who is courting her needs to arrange a visit to her family home on an afternoon or evening. This and subsequent dates take place primarily in her family’s home with all of her relatives present, including aunts and uncles, grandparents, and cousins.
So remember these important factors, especially if marriage is your goal with her.
1.Her father — You need to get on well with her dad. In Mexico, fathers have a reverential attitude towards their daughters. To them, a man is considered the head of the family so he also has a say in her choices about who she dates.
Her dad will most likely control her dating life and whoever he approves is going to be the one that will get the seal of approval in marriage.
TIP: If her father is against it, there will be no wedding. So make sure you are friends with him. When you visit her home, show that you are not only kind, generous and a great partner, but also show that you are traditional.
2. Views on marriage — Because Mexico is a very Catholic country, most of them look down on intimacy before marriage. You may also be taken more seriously if you give the impression that you will be with her long term. Marriage and having a family is still a goal for most Mexican women.
At the very least, she will only allow intimacy if she’s sure the man she’s with is a total gentleman.
3. Mexican women over 30 — In Mexico, there is an old stigma about women over 30 who are still single. To them, if a woman still hasn’t married a man before she turned 30, then there is something wrong with her. This leads to many women settling down with any man they can find, even if they aren’t compatible.
But these days, the gender double-standard is changing. Younger girls are more inclined to marry whoever they choose now rather than rely on tradition or their dads.
Still, some of the values and morals they were taught as a kid will still stay. She will most likely not hesitate with the topic of marriage if she’s with you. Don’t shy away from it.
How do you make her love you?
There isn’t a foolproof, 100% way to make her fall in love with you, but here is where your best instincts and a splash of good intentions come in. She’s human so treat her like one first and foremost. Treat her like how a gentleman would without being too overbearing. And most of all:
1.Look good — We understand that not all of us can look like a masterpiece. But sometimes, just dressing nice and having good hygiene are more than enough for any woman.
In Mexico, appearance matters a lot, for both genders. Women are expected to look attractive in almost any given situation. They dress tight and sexy, use make-up and appear their best when they go out on dates. A woman who dresses in jeans and a hoodie for a date means that she doesn’t think too much on said date.
So remember to dress your best. They appreciate a man who is well-dressed and smells good so don’t neglect your grooming. Try to match her and look your best too, otherwise she won’t be interested.
2. Your family values — Like in so many Latin and Asian countries, family is at the root of who they are. They prioritize family above all else. Some of their decisions in life are almost always influenced by family in one way or another. They build their careers for family and they make time for family. A lot of them even drop everything if one of their family members needs help.
This is your chance to show you are husband-material. Mexican women, at least most of them, are attracted to men who have strong family values. Your chances of marrying her will skyrocket if you can show that you respect and love your family and you don’t mind starting one yourself.
3. Be a gentleman — simple as that. It sounds easy to try and become a gentleman but sometimes men get overconfident and forget their manners.
Treat her like a queen. Mind the way you speak and what you talk about in general. Mexican women adore gentlemen who know how to treat a woman. So don’t forget to pull up a chair, open some doors for her, smile and nod when she talks and so on.
When she likes you
Here’s how you know she is starting to warm up to you:
She asks questions about you.
Naturally, a person will only really ask about your personal life, interests and hobbies if they are interested in you. If she doesn’t care, then she will nod politely and contribute little to the conversation.
That or she’s just really shy.
Another sign that she likes you? She laughs a lot.
Mexicans can’t resist humor. They especially like the specific kind, when it comes really close to mockery. Don’t be offended by this. They just have a specific sense of humor and a lot of the women there show their love by playfully mocking their loved ones.
The last sign is when she outright tells you.
Some women are bolder than others but if she happens to tell you straight out that she has fallen for you or that she has romantic intentions, congratulations. You have succeeded in wooing her.
